What is Massage therapy?
Massage therapy is the assessment and manipulation of soft tissues and joints of the body to affect a therapeutic response in the treatment and prevention of physical dysfunction and pain in the soft tissues and joints by manipulation. This manipulation is used to develop, maintain, rehabilitate or augment physical function or relieve pain. (Ontario Massage Therapy Act 1991)
Massage therapy is a valuable health care service that can directly contribute to improved well being. Through the manipulation of soft tissues of the body, the massage therapist works toward alleviating discomfort and stress, and to renew the energy we all need to live fully.
